Indigenous Copper Colored Afro Americans are a spiritual people by our very nature. It is in us to nurture both our land and the inhabitants that have visited, starting from 1492, with the arrival of Cristobal Colon. (Columbus) Even with being colonized and us subscribing to religion, our spirituality carried us up until the 1950s. Whereas we once relied on our common sense (spirituality) to carry us, religion (colonization) has taken us to the depths of our despair, yet we continue to embrace it, regardless of denomination. Why and how did we give up our spirituality? Has religion benefitted us in any way? How do we go back to our ancestral ways?
