Darren is a keen property investor and has a corporate IT background in project management. After realising IT was not where his passion lay he trained as a performance coach, mountain leader, inspirational speaker and is an operational member of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team. He has a creative and entrepreneurial mind, which enabled Mountains in Mind to be launched. This combines his values of wanting to help others with his love for the great outdoors.

Darren is an active outdoor enthusiast and has run a number of marathons, including a number of ultramarathons, where he is best suited in the hills and mountains. He has an extensive hill walking, mountaineering and trekking background and has completed the Coast-to-Coast walk, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, climbed in the Alps and trekked in Nepal.

With his passion for the outdoors, he can be found spending most of his available free time either running over the moorlands around his home town of Buxton in the Peak District, climbing on the Roaches or skiing down a black run in the Alps in winter, through to climbing in France and mountain biking in Wales, in summer.
