Nathalie Miebach is a sculptor who is fascinated with weather and how it interacts with the environment and affects people. She researches weather data, makes detailed drawings of the various numbers and then starts the slow process of basket weaving the drawn scientific information into three-dimensional sculpture ranging in size from a corner piece, a wall hanging to filling a room. Telling a story by creating a visual language based on scientific data is what makes Nathalie unique. And she is taking this notion of storytelling into another realm – that of sound as well – by developing musical scores from collected weather data. Are Nathalie’s sculpture pieces an expression of science, art or language? Tune in as host Kita Szpak talks to Natalie about her “newfound” stories on A Kind Voice on Big Ideas and Philosophy.
