Tonight’s guest is Baltimore based author, Michelle Junot. Michelle was born and raised on the North side of Lafayette, Louisiana. She attended Centenary College of Louisiana, and graduated with a BA in Dance and Communication: with an emphasis on Professional Writing. After undergrad, she followed her heart and moved to Baltimore, MD to, as she says, “face the unknown.” While there she not only learned to parallel park, and re-connect with the faith she’d thought she lost forever, but she also earned her MFA in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts. Michelle has written a memoir called & The Floor Was Always Lava. The memoir is a humorous and heartwarming account of the author’s youth, and is written with a voice that is all too relatable, whether or not you’ve ever had a sibling. It explores the emotions one might have as a youngest child, all the way to the feelings one might experience when they finally decide to move out on their own. You can find and follow Michelle’s work at the following links: www.michellejunot.com, https://www.goodreads.com/michellejunot
