A touching conversation with author Stacey Marcus. “This doesn’t happen to nice Jewish girls.” In the blink of an eye, Stacey Marcus’ life went from bad to horrific. From the age of five Stacey was forced to face a brutal and disturbing childhood. In the years that followed Stacey knew she was different, her family was different.

Through courage and determination, Stacey ran away from home, went on to work two jobs while putting her self through college and graduating with honors.  Stacey claimed her independence while living on Frosted Flakes and lettuce. She never gave up on her seemingly unforgiving life.

Following her mother’s effective suicide in 1986 and her brother’s incarceration, Stacey packed her things and bought a one-way ticket to New York City.  There she pursued an acting career while discovering her own addiction to drugs.

Stacey has endured a hellish childhood and has gone on to become a beacon of light to other survivors of abuse.

She journeyed through terrors of physical, sexual, mental, and verbal abuse to tell her story. This is Stacey’s way of letting the world know what really goes on behind closed doors and abuse does happen to “nice Jewish girls.”

After many years of struggling with trying to understand “Why Me?” Stacey took back control of her life and started saying, “It was me, now what am I going to do?”

With her sharp humor and grace, Stacey has been able to stare down her demons. It has been through her courage and determination that she has been able to inspire others.
