A Kind Voice on Music -- Guitars in the Classroom with Jessica Baron

Today's program features Jessica Baron, Founder and Director of Guitars in the Classroom (GITC), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing musical access for all children and expanding the role of music in public education. GITC offers professional development for music, special education, and general classroom teachers with additional classroom coaching, and teaching-artist residencies for educators and their students. GITC's work in Title 1 schools trains, inspires, supplies and empowers educators to teach literacy and all subjects through the power of song and the joy of making music every day. ?

We'll discuss GITC's Global Giving projects to Infuse Learning with Music and provide music instruction to Special Learners. You'll also get to hear a sample of GITC in action, featuring this clip of students at Lankershim Elementary performing their original composition retelling Lois Lowry's Number the Stars.
