James DeCocq was born in South Bend, Indiana. James has a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science and Biology and a Master of Arts in Marine Affairs & Policy from the University of Miami. His experience includes teaching in Middle and High School in inner-city Dallas. James entered the world of local government with a bang. James has experience in restorations; the Dune Restoration Project in the Bahamas and historical beach restoration for theVillage of Key Biscayne. James became Assistant City Manager for The Village of Key Biscayne, City Manager for The City of Sunny Isles Beach and the City of Marathon, FL..
James has been involved with over 150, (actively managing 52,) Community Development Districts (CDD) and Special Taxing Districts. In 2007, James started NJC Corporate Enterprises, Inc., a government efficiency firm that offers expert contract services for creation, establishment, transition and revitalization of local governments. James’ background in government management makes him the type of candidate people are looking for today – logical, knowledgeable, strong individual who needs no on the job training.
In 2010, James ran for State House. James did not win his primary, but gained incredible support and is currently working on several projects to raise awareness of government policy in Central Florida.
His decision to run for State Senate comes at a time when Americans, and Floridians alike, are in dire need of leaders with practical experience and proven successes. Representatives who will serve with determination and integrity while remembering that the job entails an attitude of servitude and not one of personal gain - A leader who can make the right decisions for Florida and not break under special interest or political pressure.
