What is Christmas in America all about?

Is it a "Holiday" or a "Holy Day"?

What does Christmas mean to Americans?  Is it all about shopping?   What does Christmas in America say about Americans?

Has political correctness destroyed the true meaning of this holy day or did "We the People" destroy Christmas by the over commercialization of it?  Tough Question.

Please join the discussion and share what Christmas in America means to you.

Holiday vs. Holy Day

"The word holiday derived from the notion of "Holy Day", and gradually evolved to its current form."

"The word holiday comes from the Old English word haligdæg. The word originally referred only to special religious days. In modern use, it means any special day of rest or relaxation, as opposed to normal days away from work or school.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holiday "

The hosts of American Statesman wish you and your family a safe and Merry Christmas and Happy Holy Day!
