Time for Tough Talk with candidate Spike Hopkins - Former Orange County, Florida Sheriff Deputy and 2016 Candidate for Orange County Sheriff.
In Spike's Words..Spike Hopkins has been a resident of Orange County for 38 years. His family moved to the Conway area of Orange County when his father retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. Spike is a devoted family man and respected member of his church. Law enforcement is the family business, as his beautiful wife, Shelby, is a police officer in Orlando. They have a 5 year old son named Quintin. Spike began his career serving the residents of Orange County in 1986 as a Firefighter/EMT for the Orange County Fire Rescue Division. In 1988, he became a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for the Orange County Sheriff's Office. As a reserve deputy, Spike volunteered his time to the residents of Orange County patrolling the streets. It did not take long for Spike to realize his life’s calling was to be an Orange County Deputy Sheriff and in 1989 he went to work full time. After nearly 30 years of serving the residents and visitors of Orange County, Spike retired to run for Sheriff where he feels that he can make even more of a difference as a servant of the people and not a politician.
