Aaron Huey, founder of Firemountain Residential Treatment Program, and Ed Porritt discuss the current paradigm of education and alternatives for students who require a greater need. Is the system so broken that it can't be fixed? No matter how much the teachers try, the overwhelm gets in the way of being able to meet the individual students needs, Not to mention a teen at risk and the immediate attention they require.

Ed is endorsed in special education and gifted education and has taught grades 5-12 in an array of school settings. As principal, he has designed several schools and programs that have helped hundreds of struggling students, including students who have experienced trauma or have anxiety, depression and other mental health-related challenges. For Years, Ed’s programs have helped students reassemble fragmented pieces or rediscover buried potential, and learn about their strengths and challenges.

Eventually, they develop resiliency, thrive in a community, meet educational milestones, and move on optimistic about living full, meaningful lives.
