Why was Sodom Destroyed?
Ezekiel 16:49-50
49 "Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had arrogance, abundant food and careless ease, but she did not help * the poor and needy.
50 "Thus they were haughty and committed abominations before Me. Therefore, I removed them when I saw it.
God prophesied against the wicked Jews and penny pinchers. They did not aid the poor, therefore they would be led away into captivity and would perish along with their riches. The people of Sodom and Gomorrah were very wealthy and their immoral lifestyle led them to deny aid to the suffering poor and that was the chief reason God destroyed them. The scriptures will tell you how God feels about the poor.
