Guest: Kim Roxie, a dynamic young woman who has built an empire as owner and founder of the wildly successful LAMIK Beauty cosmetics line. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Clark Atlanta University and is a licensed esthetician. Her calling into the beauty industry was more of a ministry than a career – she wanted to break the often-artificial and ‘plastic’ stereotypes that often influence self-esteem. The LAMIK mantra, “Beauty is revealed, not applied” declares the uniqueness of this brand’s belief. Kim became the youngest African-American woman to launch a full cosmetic line inside a major department store with the launch of the LAMIK Beauty cosmetic line into Macy’s stores in Texas. A champion for black-owned businesses, Kim along with Emmy Award winning hairstylist Hadiya Barbel, made history during New York Fashion Week producing and hosting a Beauty & Wellness event by black entrepreneurs. LAMIK Beauty has also been highlighted as one of the eight black-owned beauty companies by BET (Black Entertainment Television), and is one of the seven black cosmetics lines dominating the market. It is no surprise that Ebony Magazine named Roxie the “Black Beauty Maven to know”, as well as “one of the five black cosmetics entrepreneurs you should know.” LAMIK Beauty Cosmetics can be found at the world-famous LAMIK Beauty flagship store. LAMIK has been featured in Ebony, Essence and Black Enterprise magazines.
