2016 marks the government’s forty-fifth year anniversary of the war on Drugs, which by all accounts is a “failed” policy and through its implementation has become the new Jim Crow. Texas imprisoned 2,855 black people per hundred-thousand compared to 768 for their white counterparts, under the United States’ mass incarceration and the war on drugs, black men are imprisoned at the rate of 4,919 per hundred-thousand population. The United States has 4% of the world’s population, but 30% of the world’s prisoners, incarcerating more than 2.3 million citizens in its prisons and jails, at a rate of one in every 136 U.S. residents-the highest rate of incarceration in the world. funds that should go into education and health are diverted to the war on drugs leaving public schools struggling and underfunded; Over the last 25 years, funding for prisons have increased 6 times while the rate of higher education and k-12 funding over that same time period has decreased. This show is dedicated to increasing your knowledge in hopes you do something about our mispropriations of energy in the U.S.
