Please join host Barbara Ehrentreu as she welcomes Leslee Asch, author of Out of the Shadows: The Henson Festivals and Their Impact on Contemporary Puppet Theater. Leslee worked for Jim Henson and The Jim Henson Company for over twenty years. She began as a puppet builder and became the Director of Exhibitions for the Jim Henson Foundation managing and curating exhibitions internationally. She has worked in many capacities including as the Executive Director of the Jim Henson Foundation and Producing Director of the Henson International Festivals of Puppet Theater. She is a recognized expert in this field and has several articles published. She created an exhibition for The Katonah Museum of Art, "The Art of Contemporary Puppet Theater".She was also the Executive Director of Silvermine Arts Center and is a member of the Flinn Gallery Committee. She is a member of Author's Guild, Greenwich Pen Women, ArtTable, Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County, UNIMA-USA and Puppeteers of America. Her book is full of beautiful illustrations and information about the international field of puppetry. As someone who has read her entire book, I am very excited to see this in print and recommend it to everyone. Even if you don't know anything about puppets, the information about the early days of the Muppets and the thinking that went behind the creation of the Festivals is fascinating. For people who are in the field, this is a treasure trove of information about puppetry and puppeteers. You won't want to miss this show! As usual there may be some surprises and some more guests.
