Episode 102 of the Celtics Late Night Show is sure to be an interesting one.
Gelso and BPaul are pleased to welcome former NBA player, John Amaechi. During his NBA days, Amaechi played for the Cavs, Magic, Rockets, Jazz and Knicks. Worth noting-- Amaechi turned down a 17 million dollar contract to play for the Lakers in 2000, opting to stay with the Magic for a meager $600,000.00
Can't bash any guy who refuses to play for the purple and gold.
In February 2007, after his retirement from the NBA, Amaechi became the first former NBA player to come out publicly after doing so in his memoir Man in the Middle. Since then he has been regarded as "one of the world's most high-profile gay athletes"
Amaechi currently works as a psychologist, educator and political activist in Europe and the United States. He has been in contact with Penn State University and is helping them cope with the Sandusky scandal.
