Chesapeake Energy drilled at 150 pad sites in Fort Worth. Before drilling Chesapeake provided sign on bonuses disproportionately across the city. It has been said certain sections of the city were given $300 sign on bonuses while other areas were given $8,000 sign on bonuses. Does Chesaepeake Energy still owe many of the residents of Fort Worth. Chesapeake later paid the city of Fort Worth $6 million dollars for unpaid royalties. They also paid another $52.5 million dollars to 13,000 residents who filed over 400 lawsuits for unpaid royalties. However, what about the other citizens of Fort Worth who were cheated out of their royalties from Chesapeake Energy as well. Many did not receive fair amounts for their royalty payments. Is another lawsuit the answer to resolve what is rightfully due to those that were cheated out of millions of dollars.
