War Spreads

Russia is going to take the war beyond the borders of Ukraine and into the peaceful, sovereign nation of Moldova. This action was announced last week by a Russian general who said that Russia wants to control the entire coastline along the Black Sea. In other words, this action will not only compromise the safety of a country, but it will also leave Ukraine land locked. There’s two question this raises.

Are we now in a new world war? The general in his remarks, stated that Russia is at war with the whole world. You could say this is just baseless threats, but the fact is, that while Russia is saying and doing these things in Eastern Europe it is also working to deploy missiles that can carry nuclear warheads to the U.S. and likely penetrate American missile defense systems. Is that serious enough that the United States should pay close attention? Or is an effort to drag the United State into the conflict?

That leaves a bigger question which is, is anyone going to do anything about Russia’s assault on peaceful nations unable to defend themselves?
