Willie received his tutledge under the great Jim Harbaugh, as he was recruited by him at the University of Western Kentucky. He remained at Western Kentucky up until 2006, as the offensive coordinator for the 2002 national championship team, alongside the legendary Coach Harbargh and his son Jim Harbaugh (unpaid assistant coach, while in NFL). Harbaugh brought Willie Taggart with him to Stanford in 2006, as the teams Running Back's Coach and he coached the Heisman Trophy runner-up, Toby Gerhart to a spectacular Doak Walker award winning season. Willie took over at Western Kentucky in 2010 and was able to help break a 26 game losing streak in his first season, and wound up leading the Hilltoppers to two straight bowl appearances and winning seasons.
