When it comes to building young men and athletes, I have not seen a man or coach do it any better than Coach Kirk Ferentz of the Iowa Hawk-Eyes. The core principals he ingrains in his young men are the exact same (unknowingly), that Coach Trout uses to mold his players into ELITE student-athletes, on and off the field. We here at College Football Today and Scout Trout, have the utmost respect for this legendary coach, who will one day be in the NCAA Coaches Hall of Fame and should be on the first ballot. But Coach Ferentz is just getting started, as he has won a outstanding 28 games in his past three seasons, which marks the best three year mark, through-out his historic career. Coach Ferentz has also guided the Hawk-Eyes to eight or more wins in ten seasons since 2002. Coach preaches smart, tough and physical play that the heavily talented Big Ten demands year in and year out. This is one program whose recruiting classes are ranked outside of the Top 25 nearly every year and still manage to beat the likes of Ohio State, as last year they pummeled the Buckeyes into submission to end all hopes of Ohio State reaching the BCS Playoffs. They were able to create four interceptions on J.T Barrett and the Ohio State offense which led them to a 55-24  victory over the than 6th ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. Going to Iowa to play a football game and being as unprepared as the Buckeyes were, tells me that Ferentz scheme is generated around utilizing every "chess piece" to create mis-matches and gaps in the defense. Establishing the running game is a key part to this attack that features multiple tight ends and fullbacks, which are used to block and are deployed on creative and intricate routes that leave the defense confused.
