Computer America

Both Hours: Author and Computer America Correspondent Michael Miller.

Tonight's Topics include:

- Windows 10 update. There have actually been three new "technical previews" since the official launch, and we're on track for an October-ish major update. We can talk about what might be included.

- I'd like to talk a little bit about computer-related scams. My mother-in-law just got taken for $12,000 (all recovered, thankfully) from one of those telephone-based "We're calling from Windows and there's something wrong with your PC" scams. Hers actually said they were calling from AOL (she still has an AOL account, incredibly) and they ended up talking her into writing them a check and providing all her bank account info. Real cautionary stuff there.

- I'm putting the finishing touches on a new My Social Media for Seniors book. (Also, FYI, my My Windows 10 Computer for Seniors book should be shipping within the next two or three weeks.) Could talk how social media is changing, how the youngsters are abandoning the traditional Facebook-type social media as the audience skews older. (Nobody wants to use the same stuff as their grandparents, right?)
