In their ongoing series looking at Heroes for All from the Bible, pastors Erica, Sarah, and Steve dig into some New Testament passages where women are named in some pretty significant roles leading the early community of Jesus' followers.  Paul names a woman named Junia as an "apostle"--in fact, a rather outstanding one of all the apostles he has worked with, in Romans.  And the biblical evidence suggests that it was a woman named Phoebe who carried the original text of Romans to its destination in Rome, and was likely then the first to read it out loud and proclaim it, including whatever other commentary or explanation would have come along with that public reading.  And then when Paul wrote to Corinth, he just subtly name drops a leader there named Chloe to get the people's attention about the divisions he is aware of in their congregations.  All of these passages suggest that women had a strong, early, and important role as leaders, preachers, and even apostles in the early church--and that the New Testament itself didn't think that women's leadership was a shocking headline, but just had grown up with women as preachers, teachers, and leaders from the beginning.  Join us for that conversation, as we also look to see how these women's stories, even if they are only mentioned briefly in the New Testament epistles, give us insights for being leaders, proclaimers, and followers of Jesus today.
