Jesus is not a "Christian nationalist."  Seriously--not even close. If that sounds surprising to you, then this conversation is one worth listening to. Despite what some people assume, the biblical writers--in both the Old and New Testaments--don't expect Christians to "take back" any country to make their governments enforce their faith.  In fact, the overwhelming majority of voices in the Scriptures assume that God's people will NOT be in positions of political power, and Jesus himself doesn't advocate for his followers to equate the Reign of God with any nation-state, past or present. As they move beyond introductions and definitions in their latest series on "Christian" nationalism, pastors Erica, Sarah, and Steve take a deeper dive into voices from throughout the Bible at why it can be dangerous for religion to be co-opted by the state, and where Jesus directs his followers to live out their faith instead.  In a time when some well-known public figures and talking heads argue that "Christian nationalism" is a good thing or could "save" their country, this conversation is an important one to show just how far that perspective is with the actual voices of the Bible, and how much that mindset is at odds with the teaching of Jesus.  This is another deep, but important, conversation, so join in here on Crazy Faith Talk!
