After completing her year of service, Kirsten continued to travel and speak on body-image issues and eating disorders. Her platform was eating disorder awareness, as she struggled and recovered from anorexia a battle that began at age twelve. Kirsten continues to be an advocate for legislation related to eating disorders. In February of 2009 she founded the Kirsten Haglund Foundation (www.kirstenhaglund.org), whose mission is to fundraise to provide treatment scholarships to assist families and individuals battling eating disorders. In this work, she also serves as Community Relations Specialist for Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center in Chicago, IL.
