Today's Show:
Before continuing our discussion on universal needs, lets explore who God want us to be. We crave happiness and sometimes seem bent on pursuing happiness more than holiness. God wants us to pursue Him and doing so leads us to holiness, which is happiness. God will go to great lengths to help us develop holiness.
In understanding ourselves we need to explore our need for love, belonging, significance, and power. Psychologists have studied human needs for decades. They mostly agree that humans have four basic needs: the need for love, the need to belong, the need for significance, and the need for power. These needs fuel much of our behavior. How they were met greatly affects our development and the course of our life. We will explore how striving to meet these needs in unhealthy ways can derail our lives. Learning to understand the challenge of dealing with these needs is crucial if we are going to develop into who God meant for us to be, to have healthy relationships, and to live without overwhelming regrets.
