Tonight: Guest Lou DiGioia (Exec Director of DECA). We will be talking about DECA and the benefits the organization provides to students now and in the future.
As executive director of DECA, Lou DiGioia leads one of the largest student associations in the world. With over 200,000 members, DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools / colleges around the globe. A recognized leader in the association community, DiGioia has served in numerous leadership positions with the American Society of Association Executives and is a member of the advisory group for the digitalNow conference. Prior to DECA, DiGioia served for 11 years as the executive director of MATHCOUNTS. During his time at MATHCOUNTS he greatly increased the number and diversity of students engaged in the organization through the creation of The National Math Club®, which builds student enthusiasm for math by providing schools with free resources to hold afterschool math clubs; and the Math Video Challenge®, an online competition that has teams create innovative teaching videos based on MATHCOUNTS problems. He is best known during his time at MATHCOUNTS as the Countdown Round moderator at the finals of the MATHCOUNTS National Competition which is webcast each year by ESPN. DiGioia holds a BA from Georgetown University and an MBA from George Mason University. He resides in Virginia with his wife, son, and chug (chihuahua-pug mix).
