This show tells a story about a benefit available to most people living and working in the United States -- Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). The SSDI program pays benefits to you and certain family members if you are unable to work due to a medical condition that's expected to last at least one year or result in death, and you are “insured,” meaning you worked long enough – and recently enough - and paid Social Security taxes on your earnings. Carol Harnett of The Council for Disability Insurance interviews Otis Darby -- a legend in the SSDI assistance industry and the founder of Integrated Benefits, Inc. (IBI) -- and Matt Jensen, an executive vice president of IBI.
