Denise Bolds, MSW attended the symposium at NYU on April 29th 2010. This event was facilitated by George Jackson Academy and the Metropolitan Center for Urban Education/NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development with Dr. Pedro Nogurea as the keynote speaker. Dr. Noguera was granted funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to do a study on black and Latino boys. This event was attended by David Banks, President Eagle Academy Foundation. Guest have been invited to join me tonite – but this show is to report my observations and reactions as a black single mother - my son graduated from a school district where only 41% of black males graduate. GET READY TO BE EMPOWERED!!!
