What Works For Boys: An Observation/Report Promising Practices Symposium at NYU

Denise Bolds, MSW attended the symposium at NYU on April 29th 2010. This event was facilitated by George Jackson Academy and the Metropolitan Center for Urban Education/NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development with Dr. Pedro Nogurea as the keynote speaker. Dr. Noguera was granted funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to do a study on black and Latino boys. This event was attended by David Banks, President Eagle Academy Foundation. Guest have been invited to join me tonite – but this show is to report my observations and reactions as a black single mother - my son graduated from a school district where only 41% of black males graduate.
