"Whenever Man closes a door - God opens a window..." Our black/brown boys think and feel just like anyone else does. Society tells them to “Man Up” and keep quiet; “Don’t Snitch” and “Suck it up!” Our black/brown boys suppress their feelings, emotions and hopes they grow up to become suppressed and repressed black men who are not in tocuh with their feelings, their hopes long gone. LITTLE BROTHER is a series of 15-minute documentary films dedicated to giving Black boys a unique voice. Beginning in 2010, filmmakers NICOLE FRANKLIN and JASMIN TIGGETT take an annual look at Black boys as young as nine years old for a one-on-one conversation demystifying what society tends to rob them of: LOVE. Chapter 1: Things Fall Apart is the first installment in the series. Set in Camden, New Jersey, well-known as one of the nation’s most dangerous cities, the film takes a look at boys growing up amongst extreme violence, poverty and crime, and explores their feelings on love and relationships set against impossible odds. http://littlebrotherfilm.wordpress.com Please join Denise Bolds, MSW author of Raising Princes to be Kings: A Single Black Mother’s Guide to Raising Her Black Son and Nicole Franklin, Jasmin Tigett, Dr. Raymond Winbush and Pastor Odessa Edmond as we discuss Little Brother and why it is so vital that our black and brown boys have a voice and be heard!
