Let's talk about Black birth and COVID-19 Birth While Black is already a challenge in the USA, with a global pandemic where Blacks have more incidents of contracting the virus, sever complications and even death. Black woman are still giving birth in these times. Courtnie Carter gave birth to her son in early March 2020 as the virus was introduced to the USA.  Courtnie Carter is an experienced breastfeeding support specialist, former WIC breastfeeding Peer Counselor and former Centering Pregnancy coordinator and facilitator. Driven by her love for all things pregnancy and mother/baby, she is committed to increasing the initiation and duration rates of BIPOC and specifically Black breastfeeding mothers. As well as also be a voice for mothers, like her who deal or have dealt with perinatal and postpartum depression and anxiety. A mother of two awesome boys, Phoenix (11) and Memphis, who turned 1 March 9, 2021. Her favorite things to do are to play sports and  travel.

Denise Bolds is the producer and host of Birth While Black. She is an Advanced Certified DONA International Birth Doula for 7 years and 183 births and she also hold a MSW degree. She is know as Bold Doula and lives in NYC. www.BoldDoula.com
