Shelley Mays-Couch is a gospel artist, entrepreneur and community advocate. She is founder of LOC Family Services, which is a faith-based non-profit community based reentry organization and CEO of Love Over Crisis LLC which provide Virginia state waivered services for elderly and disabled individuals .
She is a leader in her community and has a strong desire to uplift, encourage, and assist individuals and their families. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider, co-convener of the reentry council District 24. She has practiced as a medical social worker, Certified Dementia Practitioner, intensive in-home counselor, care coordination manager for insurance companies, and a faculty liaison for Longwood University.
Mrs. Mays-Couch specializes in various areas; however prides herself in community development and plays a significant role in promoting, enabling, and sustaining social change. The non-profit organization that she founded (LOC Family Services) is the first reentry community-based service organization in Prince Edward County and the first to receive a Federal Grant which is the 2018 U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Second Chance Act grant to serve the counties of Amelia, Appomattox, Buckingham, Charlotte Court House, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway, and Prince Edward. Mrs. Mays-Couch believes that all things are possible through Christ Jesus and states that all the work she does is through the lens of faith, hope, and love because when all else fails, those three things will always remain.
