Growing up Mav was just a fan of music. Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and other old school sounds from the 70’s and 80’s influenced him in his early years of life. Mav is a 90’s baby but his parents blasted music throughout the house so it had no choice but enter Mav’s ears. The built up aggression in Mav drew him to listen to artist like Eminem, Three 6 Mafia and G- Unit. As Mav got older he still continued to feel somewhat misunderstood as he was a big dreamer in the city of Pittsburgh where  dreams didn’t come true for most people. Artist like Outkast and Kanye West helped give Mav different viewpoints on music, the different sounds from their music were so natural in the mood it was trying to give its audience is why it had such an impact on Mav. Age 13 (2003) Mav attempted to write his first rap song. He had a journal hidden under his couch with rhymes scribbled in it. Age 16 (2006) Mav recorded his first song, still trying to find his voice over the beats he would make. Age 18 (2008) Mav released his first mixtape but not much buzz came from the release. In 2009 after a few bumps in the road that seemed to be leading nowhere at the time, Mav finished high school and few days after graduation signed a 6 year contract with the US ARMY. In those years Mav still had a drive to create music even tho it didn’t seem to be paying of at all.
