When Ezra said, "The joy of the Lord is your strength" (Nehemiah 8:10) he was speaking to the remnant of Israel who has returned to Judah to rebuild the city and its temple. It was a time of restoration, not only of the ruined city, but also of obedience to the law of God. ... .

JOY POWER

I use to hear the older Saints say and I quote “If you need some JOY, shout for it.” There is more to and in JOY than just happiness. Happiness is temporal,
JOY is eternal. Nehemiah 8:10 tells us that the JOY of the Lord is our strength and if you turn it around it says the strength of the Lord is our JOY.
I really want to talk about the POWER that is in JOY. Strength is defined as the capacity of an object or substance to withstand great force or pressure.
Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

Proverbs 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.

Nehemiah 8:10 Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Exodus 15:2 The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him—  my father’s God, and I will exalt him!

Isaiah 26: 3-4 Those of steadfast mind you keep in peace—because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for in the Lord God you have an everlasting rock.
