Ramadan The Month Of Manifesting The Purity Of Faith
Sahih International: The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it.” (2: 185)
The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) said, “…..and prayer is a light, and charity is proof and patience is a brightness and the Qur'an is an evidence on your behalf or against you." Source: Muslim no. 223 - [Sahih]
Last week we stated that, in grammar, the phrase The Month of Ramadan, is an “Idaafa”, which means that the substance and the essence of “This Month” is “Ramadan” but the key is in the nature of the word “Month”.
So we focused on the Quranic term for “the Month.” - “Shahru”
We explained that the nature of the term “Shahru” has negative and positive connotations in it’s root meaning, as in, to make famous or infamous; to cause something or someone to be known for excellence or to cause something or someone to be made known for corruption.
Quwaa-id, the Quranic Arabic term for grammar, also means foundation. Foundation for what? “The Logic”. What is the “Logic”? The “Hikmah”. What is the Hikmah? “The wisdom for guidance in your everyday life”.
So we concluded that the month is a month for the manifestation of FAITH or NON-FAITH in Al-Islam; a month for the manifestation of one’s Purity or Impurity of Faith.
Today's focus will be on the Qur'an in relationship to "The Month Of Ramadan"
