9: 103  "Take, [O, Muhammad], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke [Allah 's blessings] upon them. Indeed, your invocations are reassurance for them. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing."

"The life of purity comes on two levels, one is what we would call in this world Moral Life and the second, the highest, is the ethical life.  And we have a resemblance of these two but not exactly the same, you have a resemblance of these two in Islam, in the Qur’an.  It is said that the Prophet(pbuh) is the liberator.  He is the one that’s sent, given to us to purify us.  But the word to purify here is from the word [tahara].  It means purity and it also says that he is the one to [yuzakehem] from [zakah].  It is not [zakatu]. He’s the one to purify them, again the second meaning for purification is Ethical Life."
