"In a perfect world", human beings would evolve according to the natural dynamic of mutual influences between the environment and the human nature. The Environment would make its demands and the natural human being would respond accordingly. This continual interaction leads to the growth of every social phenomena that Allah intends for the purpose of actualizing the life he wants on earth for human beings.

This process historically was analogous to our development as babies until we are about 6 years old (Hypnogogic state).  For a very long time in our life on this earth we were not conscious human beings. It was an unconscious process that lasted up to a point when we could actually incorporate “ma’roofi” values that served as guiding principles for our tribes and nations for 1,000s of years in various forms of myth and ancient religion. And those “ma’roofi” values in various forms of myth and ancient religion were upheld as sacred, reinforced and passed on as long as the environment and the social structures which they served remained stable.

But in this post-industrial, advanced technological, modern society, life is too complicated for any system of thought which is incapable of comprehending transcending modern social complexity.

Most Mental Illness is a phenomena arising in the life of a person whose life became too complex for the knowledge they had to manage it.
