FTWT: "Adam Was First Made In Paradise" (Book Review)

"The heavenly life is the life that comes after G_d reveals to man. Then man’s heaven, or sky of knowledge, appears and it becomes adorned with stars giving light. The Prophet is pictured as a star and the star is called, “a lamp giving or spreading light”. You have man’s heaven or sky of knowledge appear and it is adorned with light. The Prophet is pictured as a star, a lamp spreading light. Now this is to bring it home down to us on earth. We can understand what a lamp is but there are also stars. The star is a little bit difficult for us to relate to, to understand how the heaven is what represents higher knowledge, higher, purer and better education. We have to relate all the signs to the need for man on earth to become enlightened educated and guided by correct knowledge into the light. And really, isn’t that the purpose of G_d’s guidance, i. e., to bring us out of darkness (the language of G_d in the Qur’an) into the light." P. 143 “Education: A Sacred Matter” Imam W. D.
