UDL: “Taqwa: Consciousness Of Allah In All Things, At All Times” (VIII) Cont'd

The theme of the section of verses that we have been reading from (3:139-148) is “Trial and Tribulation, Faith and Purification of Our Souls”.  It continues with this verse 3: 143

Today with Allah’s permission we will connect our theme and this verse with the story from the Holy Qur’an of Saul’s/Talut’s army and David and Goliath

But before going to the story I want to remind us again of what we’ve been taught in the name of religion about “Death”.

Namely, that “By one man’s sin death entered into the world”.  So death is a part of a curse from G’d for Adam’s disobedience.  We’ve been taught that death is somehow UNNATURAL.

No! Allah says “He is the one who created the Death and The Life to try which of you is best in conduct.”

But do we naturally dislike death? Yes.  So life threatening situations and the loss of life are 2 of the hardest matters for human beings. So they are among the greatest trials of life. Counter-intuitively or we can say “but by divine design” facing or experiencing life threatening situations or the loss of life are sacred opportunities for our human elevation and evolution.
