Jumu'ah Live: Muslim Believers Are The Most Self Sufficient People (IV)

Al-Isra (The Night Journey) 17: 18. If any do wish for the transitory things (of this life) We readily grant them such things as We will to such persons as We will: in the end have We provided Hell for them: they will burn therein disgraced and rejected.

If all we are driven to desire in our hearts are the Goods and Chattel of this world with no respect for Allah or the Judgment to come, Allah says “Here take it! In the end Hell for you in this life and in the next is Hell!”

Verse 18 shows what happens to those whose striving isn’t correct. They are those who strive only for the goods of this world driven by the covetousness of their own souls without any conscious of G’d [Sinners will be driven to hell like thirsty cattle seeking water]. Why?  Because they make their desire for the Goods of this world their God and that is what leads them far astray until they land in hell in this life and in the next.
