Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud (ra) said,
“I have heard Allah's Messenger (?) as saying: When forty-two nights pass after the semen gets into the womb, Allah sends the angel and gives him shape. Then he creates his sense of hearing, sense of sight, his skin, his flesh, his bones, and then says: My Lord, would he be male or female? And your Lord decides as He desires and the angel then puts down that also and then says: My Lord, what about his age? And your Lord decides as He likes it and the angel puts it down. Then he says: My Lord, what about his livelihood? And then the Lord decides as He likes and the angel writes it down, and then the angel gets out with his scroll of destiny in his hand and nothing is added to it and nothing is subtracted from it.”

To has the best possible life we must Know and Accept [i.e., Believe in] life as it has been designed by Allah. And live in accordance with its nature and requirements. The variation of Difficulty and Ease is a part of the nature and reality of life [3:139-150]. Variations among individuals in levels of wealth is a part of the nature and reality of life. [17:18-22] Striving to have a good life and to enjoy some of the wealth and provisions that the possibilities of life afford without a guarantee of achievement and success is a part of the nature and reality of life [28:77; 7:32]. So strive for the excellent things in this world [2:148; 57:21-24] but with an awareness that there is life that comes after this life and that our experience in the life that comes there is grounded in the way we lived here [32:13-14; 39: 70-73].
