"Adam (‘s beginning is the beginning of the man of intellect) the one who knows the scientific reality of the matter." Imam W. D. Mohammed(ra) "Education: A Sacred Matter"
Today we are addressing the reconditioning which must take place in our thinking in order to facilitate “Education In Reality”. By “Education In Reality” we mean, as it is intended by Allah in Al-Islam. From the Islamic perspective, Education in Reality, addresses all of the matters that are either denied or diminished in modern education and is successful by virtue of how it, naturally and imperatively, incorporates those critical essentials which have been taking out of the current worldview and methodology of education in modern society.
Allah knows best but, broadly speaking there are at least 5 primary misperceptions about education that are held in the broader cultural mind. Misperceptions that sometimes even influence the Muslims’ pursuit of Education personally and institutionally. They are that--
Education has nothing to do with Faith in G’d
Education is about the brain/intellect only.
Education has value only for livelihood (self-support, jobs, career etc.)
Education has nothing to do with morality and character.
Education has nothing to do with Life after Death.
