Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “I wish I could meet my brothers.” The Prophet’s companions said, “Are we not your brothers?” The Prophet said, “You are my companions, but my brothers are those who have faith in me although they never saw me.”..
Before we simply basque in what seems to be a preference of the Prophet for his “brothers” [Us, insha’Allah] over his “companions” [them], let’s ask ourselves some questions.
How do our deeds compare to those of the Companions? How does our love for the Prophet compare to the love of the Companions for the Prophet?
