QSI: Jesus and John Level II - Study Al-Islam Continued

During an Imam’s Retreat 1999, Randolph, Virginia, Imam W. D. Mohammed (ra) said--

“In the second level or plane is Christ Jesus and John representing the spirit in that matter [our human form], one representing the matter that holds the whole thing [Adam] because, after all, all of these seven evolved out of Adam, the potential was in the man that G’d made; the material that He made.  So, the second level represents the spirit in the matter and the spirit expresses itself, mainly, in two descriptions; one is positive the other is negative. Jesus, positive and John, negative (Peace be upon the Prophets). Jesus came to affirm and John came to denounce but both are the same spirit.  In man’s spiritual body is the need to affirm and the need to reject or denounce.  That’s why they are on the same plane.  Not because they’re equal in their contribution but because they’re equal in their nature, they’re the same nature.”

Adam is Level I in the progression and he represents the 5 senses as an anatomical feature of our human existence. Jesus and John on Level II represent the elaborated function of the five senses in the world and how their function benefits our existence.
