3: 102 “O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].”

[The Cross has a negative meaning]Now where is the good one? "Die not accept the death of a Muslim!" So now, how can we bring this?  This Balance. This sign in ancient Greece, sciences of ancient Greece, is a sign of balance. That's a sign of balance. You can balance real good when you stick your arms out like this. The tightrope walkers, they use the extended arms to walk a tightrope. Right? A tightrope! Yes, so it's a sign of balance. Perpendicular and horizontal, that's what God wants. He wants us on the siraatal mustaqeem. It is "mustaqeem", perpendicular, but in the "siraat", horizontal. It's a sign of "Die not except the death of a Muslim"! So see the cross is something that has a bad meaning and the cross as something that has good meaning; and when the Prophet says, "See that you not destroy even a cross", do not break the cross, because it has that good meaning.”

Imam W. Deen Mohammed, Ramadan Imams' Session Athens, Georgia, February 25, 1995

“The cross looks bad because its a symbol of sadness, suffering, shame and all that but in it behind that outer appearance is the great wisdom.  The man is fixed in a certain position, he’s crucified like this, it actually looks to us like a killing, a punishment but its sign of the blessed way to die.”
