An archetype is an expression of something that is fundamental to human nature. They belong to a class of ideas and actions that are not necessarily culturally constructed. The are from universal human experience.

What this means is that there are common experiences to all human life (some are universally good and pleasurable and some that are universally bad and painful) in all instances there are also “typical” and “universal” responses from human beings to these occasions regardless of culture.

These are called “Universal Experiences” such as happiness, sadness, pride, anger, love, jealousy, fear, hunger, hope, courage, doubt, etc. regardless of culture human beings universally have these experiences and in response to similar events and circumstances regardless of culture.
