"You know Dr. Martin Luther King was for us the culmination or the termination of that spirit in us. The terminal point for that spirit in us as a people, because after him we have not had anybody like that; nobody to rise and be recognized like that. Our people changed their ways and changed their thinking and they changed their spirit, most importantly. The spirit in our people changed, no more the productive spirit but the fun spirit. We lost the productive spirit to the fun spirit. As I say we forgot the best of our leadership that supported us to freedom and acceptance in America as citizens equal with other citizens under American, U.S. law. Not that the white people's hearts everywhere accepted that. No, that was a bitter pill for them to swallow. But many of them were never opposed to that and many of them lost their life trying to help us get that recognition in America. We should understand that, too, and acknowledge help that we got from the people who were really responsible for denying us our life and freedom that Allah intended for us."
