Faith has been wanting, not only among the heathen, but in professed Christendom also, so that tongues, healings, prophecy, and prophets and apostles, and all the gifts and blessings have been wanting. (TPJS, p. 270)

Spiritual gifts are blessings from God, and those who are obedient to God’s commandments should receive those gifts. As they become more prevalent in the Church, it becomes apparent that God is bestowing His favor upon the Saints. But spiritual gifts are not just favors and blessings; they are a necessity to the true Saints of God.
