An interesting confrontation occurred between the Prophet Joseph Smith and a man by the name of Robert Matthias, who also called himself “Joshua”. The man claimed to have lived before on the earth and that he was even one of the original Twelve Apostles of Christ. His doctrine promoted the idea that men can live on the earth and then come back again as another person.
