Hello World,

Welcome to Happy Talk Radio.  This is Gloria Stanley your host with the most exciting chat from coast-to-coast.  Happy Talk Radio is a family friendly program, structured to elevate your mind, body, and soul in totality of happiness. I have a co-host with me today, Jarius Christian Hart.  He is a student at Mercer University, an Entrepreneur and Volunteer Tutor for READ UNITED of United Way of Central GA.

Happy Talk Radio is celebrating Black History Month with an excursion about John Robert Lewis' Birthday and segue into John R. Lewis Elementary School Black History Month Living Icons Event on Friday, 2/25, 9:00a - 11:00a.  John R. Lewis Elementary School is a new school built from the merger of Riley Elementary and Brookdale Elementary Schools in Bibb County.  These two schools merged in 2019.  All classes for students from both schools were held at Brookdale Elementary School while demolition was happening to replace Riley Elementary with a new facility which can accommodate 700 students.

August, 2020, the new school at the old Riley Elementary site opened as Rileydale Elementary School.  After John R. Lewis died in July, 2020, Superintendent Dr. Curtis Jones of Bibb County School District and stakeholders voted to have Rileydale Elementary School name changed to John R. Lewis Elementary School in remembrance of him, 'a historical moment.'

On February 25, 2022, John R. Lewis Elementary School will be observing John R. Lewis birthday as well as Black History Heroes for Black History Month like John R. Lewis, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Barack Obama and August Wilson.

The event will be streamed live on John R. Lewis Facebook Page for the viewing audience due to COVID-19 protocols.  #BlackHistoryMonth, #ICONDAY - COPYRIGHTS NOT OWN BY HAPPY TALK
