Healing Through Hurt Talk show (#15)

My guest will be Carolyn Zahnow! Talking points: * I currently speak at schools and libraries to parents who are concerned that their teenagers may be depressed or using drugs. * I share the signs of teen depression and substance abuse as I learned them the hard way: my 18-year-old son suffered from both and ultimately took his life in 2005 while we lived in North Texas. * I facilitate a support group in Wake Forest NC (north of Raleigh) for people who lost someone to suicide * It was in support groups that I kept hearing over and over "If only I'd seen the signs." My goal is teach the signs. * Teens hide drugs in all kind of crazy places - learn where your teen might be stashing theirs * A teen's brain does not fully mature until they are 25 years old! Think 5 year old in an adult body = teenager and they need our guidance * I share tips to re-connect with your teen so you can stay in their lives.
