There's much to say about this Emmy Award-winning guitarist and composer.  The most IMPORTANT thank you for Chieli Minucci's path must go to his Mother and Father.  For the OBVIOUS, of course, but also because of the beautiful musical climate that existed for Chieli as a young boy.  Dad, Ulpio, was a concert pianist from Italy.  His compositions were noted and appreciated by everyone from Nat King Cole to those who loved the music from TV's animated TV series in the 80's, "Robotech."  At piano when he was six, Chieli heard the kind of Jazz and melodies that lingered - it made a permanent impression on him.

He was involved in his first group at 13.  The next year, he was playing on a cruise ship (shuddering: 14!).  At 23, our guest was playing in his native New York.  And developing his own style.  At Ithaca College, he was involved in Rock and Pop groups.  Then, he met George Jinda in the early 80's.  Together, they pioneered their own "Hybrid" - no other word for it.  The fused fearlessness of combining Jazz and Rock with tenderness toward the world vibes that they were both feeling was recognized as special - everywhere.  How appropriate that what they created was called Special EFX.  A huge fan base was born - and both Chieli and George were pedal to the metal until the 90's.  An amicable parting of the ways - then a dreadful illness - forged a new path for Chieli.  His friend and former musical collaborator passed away in 2001.  But Chieli kept the promise of the group intact.

He has also managed to gain an incredible reputation as a First Call guitarist and producer.  J Lo, Lionel Richie, and Celine Dion would tell you!   Chieli's late Mother, Catherine, saw her son bloom.  His dedication on "Deep As the Night" is for her. 4/25. BE there :)
